Objective

Have you noticed the sidebar in OJS, with sections for searching, logging in, providing Information for Readers, etc.? These are blocks — sections of the sidebar providing information to readers. In this unit, you will learn how to create a custom sidebar block, which might include an online advertisement or a list of high-profile editorial board members. This powerful feature will let you take your OJS customization even further!

Readings

Please read the section covering the Custom Blocks plugin in the OJS User Guide.

You can see a live example of this on the JACMP web site. Notice the “Published by Multimed” image just under the Font Size block — it is placed there using a custom block.

Activity

For this activity, please create a custom block and place it just below the “Font Size” block. The custom block can contain any information you wish, such as the names of your editorial team or a link to another page.

  2. When you have experience like a Journal Manger you can do it in a few minutes. Is any way to put a TinyMCE updated? Actually you can get good results only if you know a little bit of CSS and HTML.

  3. I didn’t have idea that we can add a block in the side bar, i thought we just can use the existing blocks.
